How It Works
The adjustable jaws in the centre of the wrench grip the square drive section of a compatible hand tap.
The jaws can be adjusted to accommodate different tap sizes within the specified range. Once the tap is securely clamped, the handle provides the leverage required to rotate the tap through a pre-drilled hole and create internal threads.
How to Use
1. Prepare the Workpiece
Secure the workpiece firmly in a vice or suitable work-holding device.
2. Select the Correct Tap
Choose the appropriate tap for the required thread size and material.
3. Open the Jaws
Adjust the wrench to create enough space for the square drive of the tap.
4. Secure the Tap
Insert the tap into the jaws and tighten the wrench until the tap is held firmly and centrally.
5. Align the Tap
Position the tap straight and perpendicular to the drilled hole before applying turning force.
6. Lubricate
Apply suitable cutting fluid or threading lubricant appropriate for the material.
7. Cut the Thread
Turn the wrench steadily while maintaining alignment. Periodically reverse the tap slightly to help break and clear chips before continuing.
